Richard and Liz are celebrating their 30th - Pearl - Wedding anniversary, looking at snapshots which bring their memories to life for everyone. But this year, Liz finds a long forgotten photo and remembers something they have not shared before… what is it that she does not want to remember? What will happen after this revelation? Will they overcome this, or will it destroy them?

"Pearl" was second in the programme of one-act plays by the Southwick Players, performed at the Barn Theatre, Southwick.

The Argus 12 June 2012 - Review

The performance on Friday 8 June was reviewed, the excerpts below relate to "Pearl" particularly, and a copy of the review is below right

"ONE-ACT plays are the theatrical equivalent of a short story and require the same rules to work. Character and plot development must rely on established shorthand and the drama needs a twist.

The excellent Southwick Players staged three perfect one-act stories at the Barn Theatre last week, loosely connected under the umbrella title of Family Ties."

"Pearl demonstrated the dangers of nostalgia when a disturbing photograph of another man threatened a 30th wedding anniversary. This was perfectly tuned marital mayhem, written by Susanne Crosby, who starred herself as one half of the couple travelling back in time to their courtship. Nicely gawky were Steve Darvill and James Darby as the Richards in love with sweet Billie Trubridge and Senior Liz."
